I have noticed that many warriors are being bested in the forest lately. This is mainly because the buffs from relics and mounts have been reduced. Why do that you ask? There is a good reason, LoGD is more than buying equipment X and then kicking arse. There are many buffs you can add to your character by using the various shops in the village.
Here is a partial list of those advantages the clever warrior/warrioress should take advantage of to excell in combat.
*Temp Stats: These add to Attack, Defense, Hitpoints, Turns, or Favor. You may purchase 50 points a game day at a total cost of 100,000 gold. The effects last until you complete your current kill. Visit the Stat Shop in Warrior's Way to check this out.
*Hiedi*s Blessing: This little buff adds to your Defense when you make a small donation to the poor and can be done once a game day. Hiedi is waiting for your generousity at Shops-n-Such.
*Pets: Yes they are more than fuzzy foot warmers! Select a pet that can attack and then use the pet in combat. Although the damage they do may seem small, their participation in a combat, deflects a surprising amount of damage to you. I prefer those pets that you order to attack, but if you are a lazy sort who fights to the end, get one that attacks automatically.
*Drinks: The bar is stocked with drinks that give various effects. A little experimentation will show which ones give good combat buffs. I suggest that you use these, especially when going after a tough opponent. I try to stay lit most of the time. Nothing stops an avatar cold like a pleasant buzz.
*Effective Specialties: Those spells should be more than an affectation. If your specialty isn't helping you in combat try a different one. You can change your specialty by talking to Cedric. Of course, to use the spells you have to not use the fight to the end option.
*Get Adequate Hitpoints: If you keep dying, chances are you don't have enough hitpoints. I recommend buying them in lots of a hundred and seeing what effect that has. A good rule of thumb is to have 500 to 1000 hitpoints per DK until you get around 20,000 hitpoints, then to evaluate if you need more.
*Mounts/Relics: If you don't have the best options for your DK level, upgrade.
*Keep your squire alive: Dead or untrained squires aren't much help in combat.
*Forge: Forge to the maximum. The combat is balanced for characters who forge. If you don't forge, then keep your hitpoints low and use all the buffs. I will be happy to help anyone who wants to use this approach but it does require some effort.
*Avoid Fighting to the End: As you may have noticed, your combat options are minimized if you fight to the end. Try fighting regularly and see what effect that has on your outcomes.
Nathyrnn is not the easiest site to DK on, and it never will be. Take pride in your kills here because a kill at Nathrynn is generally worth ten at any other site. It is our hope that you will learn to use all the buffs available to become better slayers. We will be adding more modules soon to enhance your combat potential. I believe that we have a selection of the best slayers in the LoGD realms and I am sure that you will find that your difficulties in killing will be minimized by being smart killers.
If anyone would like to discuss their character builds with me, please send a note and I will be happy to work with you.
